Philippians 3:1

A couple of questions from the opening verse of chapter three ...

  • What is the exhortation in verse one and what is its purpose in this passage?
  • What is Paul referring to in the second part of verse one?

Blessings be upon you!

Hey, Angie! I'll give it a shot. I may be way off...

1.What is the exhortation in verse one and what is its purpose in this passage?

Rejoice in the Lord always. It's purpose may be that when/if the Philippians are rejoicing in the Lord, they are not putting confidence in their own flesh.

2.What is Paul referring to in the second part of verse one?

"It is no trouble for me to write the same thing to you again, and it is a safeguard to you."

I think it is referring to "rejoice in the Lord always" since it is in the same paragraph.

I'm looking forward to your teaching on this!
